Lenten Fasting & Abstinence Rules for Catholics
During Lent, Catholics are called to deepen their spiritual lives
through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
The Church’s discipline regarding fasting and abstinence is as follows:
• Fasting: Catholics aged 18 to 59 are required
to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.
Fasting means eating only one full meatless meal
and if necessary for health:
up to two smaller meals that together do not equal a full meal.
No snacking between meals.
• Abstinence: Catholics 14 and older must abstain from meat on
Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and all Fridays of Lent.
These are the minimum requirements; all are encouraged to
make additional sacrifices and acts of penance to grow in holiness during this sacred season.
New Cemetery Signs
St. Alice parishioners wish to extend our gratitude to Phil Archuleta of P&M Signs
and his entire staff for the very generous donation of signage for our cemeteries.
They are truly beautiful and we are so pleased!
